In preparation for the 2025/2026 football season, Barnsley FC initiated a collaborative marketing effort aimed at boosting the sales of their new season tickets. The club recognised the importance of engaging their fanbase and ensuring strong attendance throughout the season. Barnsley FC therefore sought to create an effective promotional campaign that would resonate with both loyal supporters and potential new fans.

The campaign's objectives were clear: to raise awareness of the new season ticket offerings, highlight the benefits of securing a seat early, and ultimately increase overall ticket sales.

Strategy and Execution

Barnsley FC required a media campaign that could be quickly planned and launched, ensuring prompt and effective execution to maximise its impact within a restricted timeframe. 

To promote season ticket sales and rally supporters to 'Paint the Town Red', The Ark Media implemented a targeted media strategy combining digital billboards and traditional 48-sheet posters. These were strategically placed in selected postcode areas across Barnsley and neighbouring regions, chosen using demographic data to optimise visibility among loyal fans and attract new supporters. This approach reinforced Barnsley FC’s community presence, generated excitement for the upcoming season, and actively encouraged season ticket uptake.

The Barnsley FC season ticket campaign achieved significant visibility and engagement, delivering over 1 million impacts. This widespread reach helped to raise awareness of season ticket sales throughout the community, reinforcing the club’s presence and supporting ticket uptake.
